​Join me on Friday, January 1st at 11am (eastern time) for a 90 minute guided restorative yoga class, with sound therapy for a special New Years Day class designed to welcome in the new. 

Just like the energy of the lion, 2021 may require you to lead with more warmth and courage. To stand tall and know who you truly are, and share that with the world. To know when to set bold boundaries, when to nurture yourself and when to be of service for your community. When to be fierce, and when to be kind. To know how much value, and power you actually hold.

Perhaps this is the year you step into your purpose, you discover what authenticity really means for you, where you can help humanity, or where you can enjoy the simplicity of life.  

The way you choose to feel on New Years Day will set the tone for your year ahead.

What will you embrace?

How will you take action?

How will you live?

This is YOUR time.

You have grieved so much. You have let go of so much.

You have also gained so much.

This is a time to only look forward.

This inward focused class will allow you to connect back in with yourself, with grace, compassion and reflection. 

It is often during these states of deep relaxation that you receive creative solutions to your problems.  Then with a clear, calm mind and body you can move forward with more ease and unwavering strength.

What is restorative yoga?

The main focus of Restorative Yoga is that by relaxing in poses, with the aid of props, without strain or pain, you can achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation. Restorative yoga classes are very relaxing and slow paced.

The class is designed for you to hold poses for longer periods of time with the help of props to completely support you. This teaches you to surrender, let go, relax and learn to feel safe and be held.

Props, like blocks, bolsters, blankets and straps are used so that you are supported in your pose comfortably. You will then hold the pose for an extended period of time. This practice is great to balance an active lifestyle, or for those that experience anxiety, restlessness, tension and stress.

Your parasympathetic nervous system is supported in this style of class which promotes a relaxation response and reduces stress in your body. The parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for slowing your heart rate and breath and increasing blood flow to your organs.

What is sound therapy?

Sound has been used to connect individuals and help facilitate self-healing for thousands of years all over the world. Instruments with different sounds and frequencies are used to help individuals meditate by giving them something to focus on, making it easier to clear their mind and relax. Scientifically it has been proven, that these frequencies penetrate the body and help slow down brainwaves to a meditative state (Alpha or Theta state). Emitting alpha and theta brain waves are believed to increase relaxation, creativity, intuition, and overall healing in the body, while reducing anxiety, stress, worry, and fear. When going into a meditative state and listening to relaxing sounds we have the ability to actually shrink the amygdala (part of the brain that controls worry and fear), while creating space for the mind and body to shift into a more present and creative state.

What you will need:

  • Yoga mat
  • Blanket or towel x 2
  • Eye pillow or small face towel
  • Bolsters or pillows x 2
  • Blocks x 2 or stack of books
  • Quiet sacred space to practice
