Maca, banana + almond butter smoothie
Have you ever heard of maca? Ok, maybe you have, but do you know what it actually is and the health benefits of this amazing powder? Well, let me explain, maca is actually a plant and is a relative to the radish, but has an odor like butterscotch. Yum. The root is used to make herbal medicines. Maca has countless health benefits. It is rich in B vitamins, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. It also has calcium, zinc, magnesium, iron, phosphorus and amazing amino acids. Here is another tid bit. It is actually used to increase sexual function in both men and women! Yep, this tasty treat, is going to help in bed. It also is incredible if you are looking for a clear boost in energy, clear skin, a balance in hormones, and a positive impact on mood. Yep, it makes you happy! To top it off this smoothie tastes absolutely heavenly! All the wonderful blend of spices mixed together to make one smoothie goodness.
Ingredients:
- 1 + 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk (carageennan free)
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/4 cup almond butter
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. maca powder
- 1 tbsp. hemp seeds
- Ice (depending how thick you want it, I used 4 cubes)
Steps:
- Combine all ingredients (except ice) into a blender
- Blend on high speed until smooth
- Add in desired amount of ice if you would like it a bit colder and thicker
- Sip + enjoy!
