I’m not talking about Mase the rapper here, I am talking about the wonderful flavorful spice called Mace. Have you heard of it? It’s a new spice to me that I don’t use a ton in my cooking, but after all of the research into this incredible spice I am definitely going to start integrating it more. So, where does mace come from exactly? You’ve heard of nutmeg before right? Well, mace and nutmeg actually come from the same plant, Myristica fragrans. Nutmeg is the actual seed of the plant, while mace is the covering of the seed. This spice can be an easy substitution for nutmeg (however nutmeg has many health benefits as well!) and has a bit of a sweeter yet milder taste.
